Not just the boyfriend.
I first became aware of German singer-songwriter Johannes Oerding as the boyfriend of hugely popular TV show moderator, singer and stand-up comedian Ina Müller. The two met at her late night show “Ina’s Nacht” where they also performed together.
Oerding drew attention to his talent for the first time in 2009, where he performed as lead singer for the bands Simply Red, Ich + Ich as well as several solo artists, including Ina Müller. The relationship between him and Müller put his name further in the spotlight. But to say it was mostly thanks to his connection to the bubbly, award winning TV show moderator that his name ended up in the spotlight, would be far from the truth.
It turns out, Johannes Oerding deserves the spotlight. He is a talented songwriter and musician in the contemporary German pop rock genre. His songs are personal, meaningful, hit home with his audience. He sings what’s in his heart. “Pop, soul and blues at their finest”, as his music has been described.
His debut album “Erste Wahl” (First choice), released in 2009, became a hit. His second album “Boxer” (no translation needed) followed in 2011 and almost made the top ten. His third album “Für immer ab jetzt” (From now on forever), dedicated to his love of 4 years, was just released and landed promptly at # 4 in the German charts.

The 31 year old Kapellen, Northrhine-Westphalia native Oerding lives in Hamburg. Close to Ina Müller. And he is on the ride he must have been dreaming about in the days he was knocking on doors only to be turned away. He seems to turn up on music stages and talk shows everywhere. What life turns out to be when you’ve been discovered.
